Chinatown Master Plan
Los Angeles, CA
Lewis/Schoeplein, working with the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles, Project for Public Spaces and Mia Lehrer + Associates, completed a master plan for Los Angeles’ Chinatown. The process, in which the design team worked closely with members of the Chinatown community, has culminated in a variety of design solutions which are now moving into an implementation phase.

The Master Plan calls for several new cultural and physical amenities, including a Community Night Market, revitalized dining and entertainment zones, a renovation of the historic Wishing Well at Central Plaza, improved pedestrian access ways on Broadway and Hill Streets, new moon gates at Chung King Road, and a Chinese “Tea House” Pavilion as a gateway to West Plaza.
