Venice Japanese Community Center
Mar Vista, CA
The Venice Japanese Community Center was founded 85 years ago to serve over thirty Japanese-American families living in the area. Over the years it evolved from a Japanese language school, to a temporary relocation facility for families returning from WWII internment camps, to a center to preserve the heritage and to perpetuate the Japanese cultural experience. Currently over 1,700 families have memberships at the VJCC. To accommodate the number of people active in the community center, we are designing a new building to include a social hall, classrooms, meeting and activity spaces.
