Description

After 50 years of intensive use and the continuing growth of their programs and congregation, the UUCLB was looking to replace its main classroom building. To do so meant an examination of the entire 2 acre campus, and the creation of a master plan that answered the Church’s immediate needs while providing for the future.

The master plan envisions a new sanctuary and administrative areas grouped around a courtyard, and a school facility anchoring a second “learning” courtyard. The outdoor spaces of varying sizes provide both for large gatherings and quiet contemplation. The buildings are environmentally sensitive in layout and materials, and allow users a meaningful connection to nature as an integral part of the Church’s educational programs, community gatherings and worship.
