Rieber Terrace Dining

PROJECT TYPE Dining / Education
LOCATION  UCLA
PHOTOGRAPHER LSA

The UCLA Rieber Terrace Dining Renovation (‘Rendezvous Café’) doubles the existing serving capacity of this residence hall cafeteria while adding minimal new area to the 9,500 sq.ft. facility. The focus of the renovation is the back-of-house and support areas, to make improvements that significantly increase the quality of the service and capacity for the facility. The café features two food concepts, both of which have been extensively reworked to enhance the user experience and streamline through-put. The kitchen spaces have been reconfigured for efficiency and tuned to be responsive to innovations in the menu. A new scullery was constructed in an underutilized portion of an existing loading dock area, providing just enough new construction to facilitate the program changes.
