UC Irvine                                  Rockwell Student Center

PROJECT TYPE  Workplace
LOCATION  UC Irvine, CA
PHOTOGRAPHER  RMA Photography

Lewis|Schoeplein designed the new student center at the UC Irvine Samueli School of Engineering. Located in the Rockwell Building, which was designed by Frank Gehry in 1986, the new student space contains nods to classic Gehry details, including the color palette, shapes, and use of plywood as a finish material.

The space, which was created by combining several office areas on the building’s third floor, provides a variety of ways for students to congregate and study, including at communal tables, work tables, and a lounge/seating space. The project also includes new staff offices and assistant workstations.
