UCLA Command Center

PROJECT TYPE  Education / Institution
LOCATION  Westwood Village, CA

The UCLA Health Command Center is a state-of-the-art centralized facility, operating 24/7, from which to manage in real-time the functioning of the UCLA Ronald Reagan and Santa Monica Hospitals. The staff that occupies the new Command Center were previously spread among numerous locations within the UCLA Health system. The Command Center brings them to a single location and provides them with real-time data on large banks of monitors to facilitate teamwork and increase efficiency.

One of only a few such facilities in the world, the UCLA Health Command Center also serves as a show piece for the UCLA Health system. The conceptual design is organized around two rows of benched workstations (The Command Hub) with each wall of the long space lined with monitors that provide real-time hospital data. Supporting conference space, offices, restrooms and other functions are located at the front and back of the space.

Project team: Parker Resnick (Structural); Syska Hennessey Group (MEP); TK Design Solutions (A/V); AWC|WEST (specifications); Cumming (cost estimator); Newsom Brown (acoustics)
